Data Ownership & Deletion Rights
Your data belongs to you. Understand your rights and how to manage your information.

1. Data Ownership
You Own Your Data
FinanceModel does not claim ownership of any content you upload, create, or generate using the platform. All data you provide remains your property.
When you use FinanceModel, you retain full ownership of:
- Uploaded documents — Any files, spreadsheets, or data you import into the platform
- Financial models — Models you create, configure, and maintain
- Generated outputs — Calculations, projections, reports, and analyses produced from your inputs
- Exports — Any files or reports you export from the platform
By using the Service, you grant FinanceModel a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display your content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account.
We do not use your data to train AI models, share it with other customers, or repurpose it for any use beyond providing the Service to you.
2. Types of Data Covered
This policy applies to the following categories of data associated with your account:
Account Data
Your name, email address, organization affiliation, role, and authentication credentials.
Uploaded Documents
Files, spreadsheets, and data you import into the platform for modeling and analysis.
Models & Outputs
Financial models you create, including all versions, scenarios, calculations, and generated outputs.
Activity & Audit Logs
Records of actions taken within the platform, maintained for security, compliance, and support purposes.
3. Right to Access & Export
You have the right to access and export your data at any time while your account is active.
Self-Service Export
You can export models, data, and reports directly through the platform's export features. Common export formats include Excel (.xlsx), CSV, and PDF where applicable.
Data Access Request
You may request a copy of all personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We will provide the information in a structured, commonly used format.
Organization Administrators
Organization administrators can access and export data for users within their organization, subject to your organization's internal policies.
Note: Export format availability may vary depending on the type of content and platform features. We do not guarantee compatibility with all third-party systems.
4. Right to Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your data. Upon receiving a valid deletion request, we will remove your data from our active systems.
What Is Deleted
- Account profile and authentication data
- Uploaded documents and files
- Financial models and their outputs
- User preferences and settings
What May Be Retained
- Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you
- Records required for legal, tax, or regulatory compliance
- Backup copies for a limited period as part of standard disaster recovery
- Information necessary to protect against fraud or enforce our agreements
Deletion of your data is permanent. Once completed, we cannot recover deleted content. We recommend exporting any data you wish to retain before requesting deletion.
5. Deletion Timing & Exceptions
We process deletion requests as promptly as reasonably possible. However, deletion is not necessarily immediate.
Important Considerations
- Processing time: Deletion requests are typically processed within a reasonable timeframe after verification of your identity and request validity
- Backup systems: Data may persist in backup systems for a limited period before being purged through normal backup rotation
- Shared content: If you have shared content with other users, copies accessible to those users may remain until they delete them
- Legal holds: Deletion may be delayed or prevented if your data is subject to a legal hold, investigation, or regulatory requirement
We will notify you if we are unable to fulfill a deletion request and provide the reason, except where prohibited by law.
6. Organization Offboarding
When an organization closes its account or is offboarded from the platform, the following applies:
Data Export Period
Organization administrators will have a reasonable period to export organization data before deletion begins. We will communicate this timeline during the offboarding process.
User Accounts
Individual user accounts associated with the organization will be deactivated. Users may request personal data exports separately.
Deletion Scope
All organization data, including shared models, uploaded documents, and organization-level settings, will be scheduled for deletion following the export period.
Confirmation
We will confirm in writing when the organization offboarding and data deletion process has been completed.

- Your full name and email address associated with your account
- The type of request (access, export, deletion, or other)
- Organization name, if applicable
- Any specific data or content you are referring to
We will acknowledge your request promptly and provide an estimated timeline for completion. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
