1Overview
Cloud storage integrations are designed to let users access files directly from services like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or Box — without needing to download and re-upload files manually.
Design Principles
- •User-initiated only: All cloud storage access requires explicit user action. No background syncing occurs.
- •Read-only by default: When available, integrations will be read-only unless write access is explicitly authorized.
- •Minimal scope: Access is limited to files and folders you explicitly select.
- •Revocable at any time: You can disconnect cloud storage integrations whenever you choose.
2Currently Supported Cloud Storage
Current Status
Cloud storage integrations are not currently available as a production feature. Files must be downloaded from your cloud storage provider and uploaded manually to FinanceModel using the standard file upload interface.
The table below shows the status of cloud storage provider support:
| Provider | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Google Drive | Planned | Under evaluation for future release |
| Microsoft OneDrive | Planned | Includes SharePoint support |
| Dropbox | Planned | Under evaluation for future release |
| Box | Planned | Enterprise storage option |
For current file import options, see Supported File & Data Connectors.
4Data Handling & Security
Data retrieved from cloud storage is handled with the same security standards as directly uploaded files. Here's how cloud-sourced data will be processed:
Data Processing
User-Initiated Import
Files are only retrieved when you explicitly request import. No automatic or scheduled syncing.
Secure Transfer
All data is transferred over encrypted connections (TLS 1.2+). No data passes through unencrypted channels.
Single-Copy Processing
Imported data creates a copy in FinanceModel. Changes in FinanceModel do not affect your cloud storage files.
Security Commitments
No Silent Retention
Data follows our standard retention policy.
No Cross-Account Access
Each user's integration is isolated.
Audit Logging
All cloud storage activity is logged.
Data Deletion
Delete your data at any time via account settings.
For full security details, see our Security Documentation and Privacy Policy.
5Planned Integrations
We are evaluating cloud storage integrations for future releases. The following categories are under consideration:
Integration Categories Under Evaluation
Consumer Cloud Storage
Personal cloud storage services for individual users.
Enterprise Cloud Storage
Business-focused storage with team and organizational controls.
Collaboration Platforms
Integrations with broader productivity and collaboration tools.
Important Notes
- • No specific release timelines are available.
- • Vendor partnerships are not finalized.
- • Features may change based on security review and feasibility.
- • Updates will be announced through official channels.
For current feature status, see the Feature Status page.
6Limitations & Expectations
When cloud storage integrations become available, they will have specific limitations. Setting clear expectations helps ensure appropriate use.
What Cloud Storage Will Not Do
Real-Time Sync
Files are imported on-demand. Changes in FinanceModel are not synced back to your cloud storage automatically.
Continuous Access
Each import is a discrete action. We do not maintain persistent connections to your cloud storage.
Write-Back
FinanceModel will not automatically save or export files to your cloud storage without explicit user action.
Shared Folder Scanning
We cannot scan shared folders or access files shared with you by others without their explicit authorization.
Technical Constraints
| File Size Limits | Subject to standard upload limits (currently 50MB per file) |
| Supported Formats | Same as manual upload: Excel (.xlsx, .xls), CSV, PDF |
| Browser Limits | Large file imports may be affected by browser memory constraints |
| Network Dependency | Requires stable internet connection to both FinanceModel and cloud provider |
Current Recommendation
Until cloud storage integrations are available, we recommend downloading files from your cloud storage provider and uploading them directly to FinanceModel. This ensures full control over which files are imported and when.
