Integrations Overview
How FinanceModel connects with external systems and data sources
1Integration Philosophy
FinanceModel is designed to work with your existing data and tools, not replace them. Our integration approach prioritizes security, user control, and data integrity.
Core Principles
- •Security-first: All data movement requires explicit user authorization.
- •User-controlled: You decide what data enters and leaves the platform.
- •Transparent: Integration behavior is documented and predictable.
- •No silent sync: Data never moves without your knowledge.
We believe integrations should extend your workflow, not complicate it. Each integration is designed to be opt-in, auditable, and reversible.
2Currently Supported Integrations
The following integrations are available today and stable for production use. All supported integrations have been tested for reliability and data integrity.
File Uploads
Excel Import (.xlsx, .xls)
✓SupportedImport existing Excel workbooks with formulas, formatting, and data preserved.
CSV Import
✓SupportedImport structured data from CSV files for use in models.
Document Ingestion
PDF Document Parsing
✓SupportedExtract data from PDF documents using AI-powered parsing.
AI extraction accuracy varies. Always verify extracted data.
Document Upload
✓SupportedUpload supporting documents for reference within models.
Export Formats
Excel Export (.xlsx)
✓SupportedExport models to native Excel format with full formula preservation.
PDF Export
✓SupportedExport formatted reports and summaries as PDF documents.
Word Export (.docx)
✓SupportedExport narrative reports and documentation to Word format.
PowerPoint Export (.pptx)
✓SupportedExport presentations with charts and key findings.
Note: Export fidelity depends on content complexity. Some advanced formatting may not transfer perfectly between formats. See Export Documentation for details.
3Data Connectors (Limited / Controlled)
Data connectors allow structured data to be brought into FinanceModel from external sources. All connectors require explicit user permission and are designed for controlled, auditable data flow.
Important Information
- • Connectors are permissioned—you control what data is accessed
- • Not all data sources are supported
- • Data is imported on-demand, not synced automatically
- • All connector activity is logged in the audit trail
Manual Data Entry
✓SupportedEnter data directly into models through the spreadsheet interface.
Copy/Paste from Spreadsheets
✓SupportedPaste data from external spreadsheets with automatic parsing.
Database Connectors
○PlannedDirect connections to external databases for data import.
Enterprise feature under evaluation. No timeline available.
ERP System Integration
○PlannedConnect to enterprise resource planning systems.
Requires security review. No vendor commitments.
We do not currently support real-time data feeds or automatic synchronization. All data import is user-initiated and requires explicit confirmation.
4Cloud Storage Integrations
Cloud storage integrations allow you to access files directly from cloud storage providers. These integrations require user authorization and respect the permissions set in your cloud storage account.
Current Status
Direct cloud storage integration is not currently available as a production feature. Files must be downloaded from your cloud storage and uploaded manually to FinanceModel.
Google Drive
○PlannedImport files directly from Google Drive.
Under evaluation for future release.
Microsoft OneDrive
○PlannedAccess files from OneDrive and SharePoint.
Under evaluation for future release.
Dropbox
○PlannedImport files from Dropbox storage.
Under evaluation for future release.
Box
○PlannedConnect to Box enterprise storage.
Under evaluation for future release.
When Cloud Storage Ships
- • Read/write access will require explicit user authorization
- • FinanceModel will never modify files without your confirmation
- • All cloud storage activity will be logged
- • You can revoke access at any time
For complete details, see Cloud Storage Integrations.
5API & Extensibility (High-Level)
FinanceModel provides programmatic access for enterprise customers and integration partners. API access is controlled and requires explicit authorization.
API Availability
REST API
Available for enterprise plans. Authentication via API keys or OAuth.
Public Developer Portal
Not currently available. API access is provided on a case-by-case basis.
Webhooks
Planned for future release. Will support event-based notifications.
API Access Requirements
- • Enterprise plan required
- • Security review may be required for certain use cases
- • Rate limits and usage policies apply
- • API schemas are not publicly documented at this time
For API access inquiries, please contact our enterprise team. For complete details on API governance and limitations, see the API & Extensibility Statement.
6Security & Permissions
All integrations follow strict security principles to protect your data and ensure compliance with enterprise security requirements.
Least-Privilege Access
Integrations request only the minimum permissions required. We never request access to data or systems beyond what is necessary for the specific integration.
User-Controlled Authorization
You explicitly authorize each integration and can revoke access at any time. Authorization decisions are logged and visible in your account settings.
No Silent Data Syncing
FinanceModel never automatically syncs data to or from external systems. All data movement is user-initiated and requires explicit confirmation.
For detailed integration security information, see Integration Security & Permissions. For platform-wide security, see our Security Documentation.
7Limitations & Expectations
We want to be transparent about what our integrations can and cannot do. Please consider these limitations when planning your workflow.
Current Limitations
- •No real-time sync: Data is imported at a point in time, not continuously updated.
- •Limited third-party connectors: Direct database and ERP connections are not yet available.
- •Export fidelity varies: Complex formatting may not transfer perfectly between formats.
- •AI extraction requires verification: Data extracted from documents should be reviewed.
Setting Expectations
- • Integration maturity varies—check Feature Status for current state
- • Not all data sources or file types are supported
- • Users should validate imported data before relying on it
- • Enterprise features may require additional contracts
No Roadmap Commitments
Features marked as "Planned" are under consideration but not committed. We do not provide timelines for future integrations. Check our Release Notes for announcements when new integrations become available.
